Influenced by her parents, both DJs specializing in Chicago house music, she participated in choir at her Catholic school. At the age of 12, she began writing poetry and set her verses to beats, eventually starting her musical journey in 2011.
Initially going by Harajuku Cookiee and later Cookiee Kawa, she eventually adopted the name Cookiee Kawaii, inspired by her love for cookies and anime. Her first album, “Zen,” was released in 2016.
